Input Devices
The input device is the source of the video stream. This can be anything from a video camera to a video capture card that is connected to a direct feed.
Encoding Station
The encoding station is where the video feed is converted into the Universal video format. While the feed is being converted in real time it can direct it's video stream to either a VX30 Video Broadcast Server or directly out to the client(s) through it's built-in lightweight Broadcast Server. The encoding station requires Microsoft Windows 2000 or XP and the VX30 Live Encoding software. The Live Encoding software is designed for round the clock operation and supports any capture device that utilizes the video for Windows driver.
Broadcast Server
The Broadcast Server usually resides in a datacenter and is responsible for routing the video stream to the connecting clients. The VX30 Video Broadcast Server is a stand-alone Java application, which makes it completely platform neutral. Administration of the application is performed through a web portal.
Relay Network
For scalability, a the live video stream can be routed through a load balanced relay network of additional Broadcast servers. There are multiple load balancing options that allow for complete control of your broadcast network.
Clients
To decode and view a Live VX30 Universal Video stream the client only requires a Java enabled web browser. Therefore the client can be any type of personal computing device from a Sun Ray thin-client to a workstation/laptop running Windows, Linux, Solaris or OS X.
